Urea production in Azerbaijan increases by over 60%

In January-September 2024, 472,800 tons of urea were produced in Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing the country's State Statistics Committee.
According to the committee, this figure is 61.3% more compared to the same period in 2023.
As of October 1, there was a remaining stock of 54,100 tons of finished product.
Urea (nitrogen fertilizer) is produced at the SOCAR Carbamide plant located in the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park. The plant was commissioned on January 16, 2019, and has the capacity to produce 650,000-660,000 tons of urea annually using 435 million cubic meters of natural gas as raw material. About 70% of the output is intended for export.
