The US Embassy in Azerbaijan has congratulated the participants of the 5th Baku Marathon initiated by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Report informs, citing the embassy.
"The US Embassy joined the many athletes running the Baku Marathon today. Congratulations to all participants!" the embassy said in a statement.
A citizen of Russia, Rinas Ahmadiyev, born in 1989, has won the men's marathon by running the distance for 1 hour, 3 minutes, and 11 seconds.
A citizen of Ukraine, Valentyna Veretska, born in 1990, finished first among women. She overcame the distance for 1 hour, 16 minutes, and 59 seconds.
51-year-old Mehman Ramazanzada won among persons with limited health abilities.
The marathon involved nearly 15,000 participants.
The event, organized since 2016, aims to support sports development and popularize a healthy lifestyle.
