ShamkirChess 2019: World chess stars gather again in Shamkir - VIDEO

All participants of the traditional ShamkirChess 2019 international chess tournament dedicated to the memory of well-known Azerbaijani grandmaster, European champion Vugar Hashimov have been announced.

Report informs that 10 strongest grandmasters in the FIDE ranking will take part in competition.

The current world champion, three-time winner of the ShamkirChess tournament, Magnus Carlsen (Norway, 2845), Chinese chess player Ding Liren (China, 2812, 3rd place in FIDE rating), leader of Dutch chess Anish Giri (2797, Former world champion Viswanathan Anand (India, 2779), Russian chess player Alexander Grischuk (Russia, 2771), World Cup winner, Sergey Karjakin (Russia, 2753), FIDE version world champion Veselin Topalov (Bulgaria, 2740), Czech David Navara (2739).

At the Memorial of Vugar Hashimov Azerbaijan will be represented by three-time European champion, double winner of ShamkirChess supertournament Shahriyar Mammadyarov (2790), bronze medalist of the world championship Teymur Rajabov (2756).

The supertournament will be held with the support of SOCAR, Ministry of Youth and Sport, Azerbaijan Chess Federation and under the partnership with Synergy Group.
