FIDE president arrives in Baku

President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Arkady Dvorkovich, FIDE official, two-time world champion, World Chess Olympiad winner Zhu Chen, and President of the Turkish Chess Federation Fethi Apaydın have arrived in Baku, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijan Chess Federation (ACF).

Today they will participate in the opening ceremony of the Baku Open-2025 International Chess Festival organized by the ACF with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan.

The ceremony will begin at 14:30 (GMT+4) at the Exhibition Center of the Baku Crystal Hall.

The prize fund of the festival is $55,000. More than 700 chess players from 16 countries are participating in the competition. The Azerbaijan Championship among veteran chess players is also being held within the framework of the tournament.

The festival is also included in the Chess Tour Azerbaijan project.
