Cycling federation vice-president: Coming Tour d’Azerbaidjan will be biggest ever

The coming international cycling tour, Tour d’Azerbaidjan, scheduled for 2026, will be the biggest in the history of the competition, Azerbaijan Cycling Federation Vice-President Sahib Alakbarov said in an interview with Report.

According to Alakbarov, the race will cover 20 cities and districts of the country, including the liberated territories.

"The tour will start in Baku and will finish in Shusha. Participants will also pass through Khankandi. We have already sent an official request to the International Cycling Union to include the cycling tour in the 2026 calendar," Alakbarov noted.

The competition will be held in five stages: Baku-Sumgayit, Baku-Shamakhi-Ismayilli, Gabala-Oghuz-Shaki-Oguz-Gabala, Gabala-Aghdash-Minghachevir-Ganja and, finally, Ganja-Tartar-Khankandi-Shusha.

Previously, Tour d’Azerbaidjan was held five times between 2013 and 2017.
