Coach of Olympic champion Toghrul Asgarov undergoes surgery

Baku. 17 November. REPORT.AZ/ Elchin Zeynalov, personal trainer of Azerbaijan freestyle wrestler, gold medalist of London 2012 Summer Olympics Toghrul Asgarov underwent a surgery. 

The head coach of Azerbaijan national freestyle wrestling team Firdovsi Umudov told Report.

He said Elchin Zeynalov underwent heart surgery in the Central Clinic Hospital on November 16. He added that the current state of E. Zeynalov is fine: “Surgery was successful, his condition is good. I contact several times a day and interested in his health. I have just spoke to his son. Though he is in intensive care section, there is no threat for his life.”

In accordance with order of Azerbaijani President dated December 25, 2008, Elchin Zeynalov was awarded title “Merited figure of physical training and sport”.

Pursuant to order of Azerbaijani President dated August 31, 2012, the 69-year-old coach was awarded with order of Shohrat (Glory) for his service in the development of wrestling in the country. He is the USSR Master of Sports and merited trainer.
