Broadcasting rights for Winter and Summer Olympics sold for 1.3 billion USD

Baku. 30 June. REPORT.AZ/ The International Olympic Committee (IOC) sold 4 Olympic broadcast rights to "Discovery Communications" media-holding for 1.3 billion USD. 

Report informs referring to the IOC's official website, a large part of broadasting of 2018, 2020, 2022, 2024 Summer and Winter Olympic Games will be carried out by the holding's "Eurosport" channel.

"Discovery Communications" CEO David Zaslav said that the channel is targeting to gather a record amount of audience-700 million people for the Games in Europe. Holding will cover the Games in all countries of the continent except Russia.

2018 Winter Olympic Games will be held in PyeongChang (South Korea), while 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo (Japan). 

Host cities for 2022 Winter and 2024 Summer Olympic Games have not been defined yet.
