Azerbaijani judoka wins bronze medal at World Championship

Azerbaijani judoka Suleyman Shukurov secured a bronze medal at the Youth World Championship held in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, Report informs.

Shukurov claimed third place in the 81 kg weight category. He triumphed over Mihajlo Simin (Serbia), Seung-Min Kim (Korea), and Joshua De Lange (the Netherlands) to reach the semi-finals.

In the semi-finals, Shukurov was defeated by Jiangnan Wang (China). However, he bounced back to win the bronze medal match against Muhammad Yusufzoda (Tajikistan).

This achievement marks the first medal for the Azerbaijani national team at the World Championship.
