REPORT.AZ/ During the Independence period, 137 Ukrainian athletes changed their citizenship and competed under the banner of other countries in international competitions, Ministry of Youth and Sport of Ukraine told UNN agency. Azerbaijan was the second most popular country where Ukrainians moved in 1993-2017. Twenty-five athletes from this country chose the Land of Fire.

REPORT.AZ/ During the Independence period, 137 Ukrainian athletes changed their citizenship and competed under the banner of other countries in international competitions, Ministry of Youth and Sport of Ukraine told UNN agency. Azerbaijan was the second most popular country where Ukrainians moved in 1993-2017. Twenty-five athletes from this country chose the Land of Fire.

Russia ranks first with 47 athletes, while US closes the top three with 12 athletes.

Among the countries dominated by Ukrainian athletes are Turkey, Belarus (both 6), Germany, Israel (both 4), Portugal, Uzbekistan (both 3), France, Italy, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Australia (all 2), Japan, Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Sweden, Slovakia, Spain, Canada, Argentina, Latvia, England, Egypt and Qatar (all 1) are among the countries preferred by Ukrainians.

16 swimmers among Ukrainians have changed their citizenship. Water polo and kayak-canoe are in the second place with 15 athletes each.
