Video exposing Serzh Sargsyan's and Movses Hakobyan's participation in occupation of Azerbaijani lands shown in court

On May 5, another video material related to the occupation of Azerbaijan’s Khojavand district was examined during the ongoing trial at the Baku Military Court.

According to Report, in the video footage shot by Armenians in April 1993, a group of armed military personnel, including Serzh Sargsyan (President of Armenia from 2008-2018) and Davit Ishkhanyan, who is currently being tried in court, are seen in the Khojavand district of Azerbaijan, which was under occupation by the Armenian armed forces at that time.

During the examination of the video material through translation from Armenian, it became known that Serzh Sargsyan came to inspect the military units.

In the video footage, Monte Melkonian reports to Sezh Sargsyan. In return, Sargsyan tells him, "The topic is not about stopping fire at this moment. The conversation is about offensive operations and capturing more territory right now."

Later in the video material, the area is inspected, and Sargsyan talks with Davit Ishkhanyan.

Ishkhanyan provides him with information about the Aghdam district and the combat operation in the direction of the district's Abdal Gulabli, as well as the operational conditions.

Later in the video footage, the supply of troops is discussed.

In the video material, Serzh Sargsyan then has a brief conversation with the soldiers.

State prosecutors addressed questions to the accused, David Ishkhanyan, regarding the video material shown in court.

While answering the questions from prosecutors supporting the state accusation, Ishkhanyan said he remembered the filming of this video material and the purpose of Sargsyan's visit to the area. He then stated: "They came to my battalion. They were getting acquainted with the situation at the battalion's positions."

He also listed the names of some of the people in the video: "Serzh Sargsyan, Monte Melkonian, Movses Hakobyan (later the former chief of the General Staff of the Armenian armed forces - ed.). At that time, he was Monte Melkonian's deputy. The other person in the video is my headquarters chief, Aramayz Karapetyan."

The trial continues for Armenian citizens accused of crimes against peace and humanity, including war crimes, acts of terrorism, the preparation and execution of aggressive war, genocide, violations of war laws and rules, forcible seizure and retention of power, as well as financing terrorism, among other offenses stemming from Armenia's military aggression.
