Sri Lankan man jailed in Azerbaijan for using false passport

The court case of Sri Lankan citizen Savuthararajan Kasvithan, who arrived in Azerbaijan from Kuwait using a Malaysian passport, has concluded.
Report informs that the verdict was delivered at the Khazar District Court.
Kasvithan was sentenced to 9 months in prison. Following the completion of his sentence, he will be deported from Azerbaijan.
The incident took place on May 30, when officers from the State Border Service detained a person arriving on a Kuwait-Baku flight at Heydar Aliyev International Airport. The passport presented under the name of Malaysian citizen Satyaselan Vijiya raised suspicion.
Upon investigation, it was revealed that the individual was in fact Savuthararajan Kasvithan, a Sri Lankan national born in 1994.
