Snow avalanches in Azerbaijan's Lerik disrupt communication with 20 villages

An avalanche that occurred in the Lerik district has caused some problems on the roads, Report's southern bureau informs.

While there are no traffic problems on the Lankaran-Lerik highway, in some remote mountain villages, the roads are covered with snow.

Snow avalanches have occurred on the Lerik-Khamarat-Vidjaker road section, disrupting communication with 20 villages. Lerik traffic police officers are taking measures to ensure safety.

The Chairman of the Lerik Emergency Situations Commission, Khabib Malikov, reported that windy weather also created difficulties for mountain villages:

"The Road Maintenance Department No. 52 of Lerik is clearing the roads of snow. Until yesterday, about 50 villages remained without electricity. Today, the work on restoring power supply is 50% complete, and by the end of the day, power supply in the area will be fully restored."
