Nearly 100 aftershocks measuring magnitude 5 or higher have been recorded in Kamchatka following a powerful earthquake, Report informs, citing the Kamchatka branch of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
On average, new tremors are occurring roughly every 10 minutes.
Earlier, the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations had warned of potential earthquakes reaching magnitude 7.5 and the risk of a tsunami along the shores of Avacha Bay.
