Mine explosion occurs in Azerbaijan's Khojavand district

A mine explosion has occurred in Azerbaijan's Khojavand district, Report informs.
The press services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General's Office and the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action, or ANAMA, issued a joint statement.
The incident occurred on August 12, 2026, in the territory of Gizilgaya village in the liberated Khojavand district.
A bulldozer driven by Elchin Abbasov, born in 1961 and a resident of Gazakh district, hit a mine in an uncleared area.
As a result of the incident, Tovuz district residents Sanan Farajov, born in 1989, and Fuad Ahmadov, born in 2003, were injured.
An investigation into the case is underway at the Khojavand District Prosecutor's Office.
ANAMA, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General's Office once again urged citizens to follow safety rules, pay close attention to mine danger signs, avoid touching suspicious objects, stay away from unfamiliar areas and not interfere with fenced-off areas.
