A conference on "DigitAll: Gender Equality in Innovation and Digitalization" is being held in Baku today, organized by the Gender Hub non-governmental organization with the support of the British and Swedish Embassies in Azerbaijan.
The event is attended by Vladanka Andreeva, the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, George Deek, the Israeli Ambassador, and Inara Valiyeva, Deputy Chairman of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.
According to Andreeva, gender equality and cybersecurity are very important topics.
"Access to the Internet is very important, as it opens up new opportunities for us all to study and career. Therefore, we need to know how to protect ourselves in cyberspace," she added.
In turn, Inara Valiyeva, Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Innovation and Digital Development under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, spoke about the activities of this newly created structure.
"Our agency was created recently, but the main focus of our activity was the Technest scholarship program, which is designed to provide free online courses for people of all ages, ranging from 1-17 years old," adding that according to last year's reports, 43% of those participating in these courses were women.
The ambassadors of Great Britain, Sweden and France to Azerbaijan are also expected to speak during the conference.
