Azerbaijan resumes purchases of smartphones from 4 countries

In January-July 2023, Azerbaijan imported 666,901 smartphones (2% more year-on-year) for $172 million (29% more YoY), Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistics Committee.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported 461,144 (+22%) smartphones worth $117.62 million (+54%) from China, 169,499 units (-14%) worth $42 million (+8.3%) from Vietnam, 35,830 units (-53%) worth $12.12 million (-28%) from India, 122 units worth $113,530 from Czechia, and 83 units (+5.2 times) worth $71,000 (+4 times) from the United States.

Azerbaijan resumed smartphone imports from Japan (4 units worth $4,100) after 7 years and 6 months, from Türkiye (4 units worth $1,100) after 2 years and 7 months, from Indonesia (154 units worth $24,700) and 2 years and 3 months, and from the Czech Republic after one year and 11 months.

Some 59.3% of the 1,144 units of smartphones brought to Azerbaijan from 13 countries last year were purchased from China.
