Azerbaijan participating in International Astronautical Congress in Dubai

A delegation from the Space Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Azercosmos) under the Digital Development and Transport Ministry is participating in the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) held in Dubai, UAE, from 25 to 29 October, Report informs, citing the ministry.

The Congress, which is annually held by the International Astronautical Federation and brings together representatives of the space sector at the global level, this year is dedicated to the theme " Inspire, Innovate & Discover for the Benefit of Humankind." The Congress is attended by officials from the space sector of various countries, representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations, international organizations, well-known research centers, scientists in the space field, and astronauts.

The Azercosmos delegation, represented at the Congress by the IAC 2023 Baku and Azercosmos stands, informed the event participants in detail about the history of Azerbaijan's space industry, the space programs implemented in the country, and the role of satellites.

At the opening ceremony, panel presentations were delivered on the experience of the leading space agencies of the world and developing countries in this area, their development paths, as well as innovations in the global satellite industry, the use and capabilities of small satellites in the application of innovative technologies for research and development.

Panel speeches highlighted Azerbaijan's achievements in the space sector over the past decade, the activities of the Space Agency, the establishment of global and regional space diplomacy and partnership, the continuous expansion of knowledge and skills in space science, education and industry, as well as the importance of cooperation established in the field of telecommunications services and Earth observation, for Azerbaijan.

The International Astronautical Congress is being held in the Arab region for the first time in its 70-year history. New global space trends with exciting and rich programs such as the UAE mission to Mars and the Global Networking Forum are on Congress's agenda.

At the plenary sessions and technical sessions that will take place during the following days of the event, participants will exchange views on the use of artificial intelligence in the space sector, modern satellite solutions, the importance of science and innovative technologies, strengthening human capital and ongoing initiatives. The International Astronautical Congress is an important platform for making space opportunities and emerging trends accessible and beneficial to all by strengthening international ties among developing countries.

The representation of the Azerbaijani Space Agency at this event is an indicator of the rapid preparation for the 74th International Astronautical Congress, which will be held in Baku in 2023. IAC will open up new opportunities for further developing the space sector, instilling the importance of space for future generations, and contributing to space initiatives in Azerbaijan.
