The inaugural ceremony of the Azerbaijan Innovation Center took place today in Baku, Report informs.
The center was established by the Innovation and Digital Development Agency under the Digital Development and Transport Ministry of Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijan Innovation Center will serve as a hub for technology entrepreneurs, startups, and innovators.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Samir Mammadov, announced plans for a second, larger Innovation Center in Baku.
"The Azerbaijan Innovation Center is not just an office, but a significant ecosystem player. Startups here will have the opportunity to join incubation and acceleration programs, meet investors, form partnerships, and present their projects.
The center will also provide technology communities with a suitable space for events, fostering more effective community development and the sharing of experiences, ideas, and knowledge," he said.
“For local and foreign companies looking to operate in Azerbaijan, the Center offers favorable lease terms and other advantages. This makes the center attractive not only to local startups but also to international companies, providing an opportunity to consider Azerbaijan as a new market. Innovation should not be confined to Baku alone,” the deputy minister added.
"Innovation Centers are also planned for the regions, with upcoming establishments in Sumgayit and Ganja. I am confident these centers will become hubs for our innovative citizens and enthusiasts in the regions. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the creation of this Center, especially the team at the Innovation and Digital Development Agency under the ministry. These steps towards developing Azerbaijan’s innovation ecosystem and the successes achieved lay a strong foundation for sustainable economic growth and enhancing our global competitiveness," Mammadov highlighted.
