Azerbaijan, CITIC Group discuss AI computing platform project in Baku

Azerbaijan has discussed cooperation opportunities with CITIC Group, one of China's largest state-owned companies, on an artificial intelligence computing platform project planned in Baku, Report informs, citing the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.

The discussions took place during a meeting between Deputy Minister Samaddin Asadov and a delegation led by Benjamin Bao, vice president of CITIC Group.

One of the topics discussed at the meeting was the possible involvement of CITIC Group as a potential partner in the platform, which is expected to be implemented in stages and have an initial capacity of up to 1 GW, including participation in financing and construction and installation work.

The sides also discussed opportunities for cooperation with CITIC Group under AZCON Holding's projects in transport, communications and the National Artificial Intelligence Center.

CITIC Group operates in five main business areas: banking, non-bank financial services, industrial manufacturing, advanced materials and new-type urbanization. The company's total assets amount to about $1.5 trillion.
