84% software used in Azerbaijan is unlicensed

Baku. 27 October. REPORT.AZ/ Today the most software are in use in Azerbaijan is unlicensed. 

Report informs, BSA company official Nariman Ramazanov said at the Device Day event was organized by Microsoft in Baku.

N. Ramazanov said awareness raising activities they carried out against piracy has given its effect: “As a result of our awareness raising activities the total level of piracy in Azerbaijani market fell from 92% to 86% and now to 84%.”

Expert believes that suspension of inspections in entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan caused development of piracy: “In 2015, the decision came up that inspections in entrepreneurship field are suspended for 2 years. Before we had to appeal to certain structure for inspections but now it is not possible. For this reason, the level of piracy still stands at around 85%.”

Ramazanov said the companies that have large share in the market play great role in spreading pirate programs: “Actually if the licensed system does not exist, the shops should sell the technology, program without software. But in most cases they use pirate programs. Though moratorium was announced in this field. But nobody deprives us from appealing to court.”

Expert said some of the state bodies were provided with free programs by Microsoft company: “According to decision made at the head office of Microsoft all the computers of the Ministry of Taxes are equipped with free software. But the program that costs about $ 1000 was given to the Ministry of Education and a number of other universities for symbolic price of $ 5.”
