WHO says growth rate of infection with omicron stabilized

The growth rate of infection with the omicron variant of the coronavirus has stabilized in many countries, although it significantly exceeds the rate of spread of the delta strain, the World Health Organization (WHO) said in a statement.
Report informs, citing TASS, that according to the WHO, further research is needed to establish the effectiveness of vaccines against the omicron strain. The organization expects this data in the coming week.
In December, WHO expert Maria van Kerkhove expressed hope that the coronavirus pandemic would end in 2022.
