The head of the World Health Organization has urged the global community to donate COVID-19 vaccines to poorer countries, citing the urgent need for 10 million doses for a WHO-backed vaccine distribution program.

“So today, I’m asking countries with doses of vaccines that have WHO emergency use listing to donate as many doses as they can to help us meet that target. Ten million doses are not much, and it is not nearly enough, but it is a start,” Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on March 26, Report informs, citing foreign media.

He also called on vaccine producers to help ensure the quick transportation of the drugs.

According to the WHO chief, many countries can afford to donate doses without violating their vaccination plans.
