We have donated medical supplies to the Administration of the Regional Medical Divisions, and the Health Ministry, UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Gulam Ishaqzai, told a briefing of the Task Force under the Cabinet of Ministers, Report informs.
"We are currently holding discussions with the Ministry of Economy and the Cabinet of Ministers to deliver technical assistance to Azerbaijan to improve the socio-economic situation. In this regard, we continue to collaborate with the Azerbaijani government," he stressed.
So far, Azerbaijan has confirmed nearly 15,000 COVID-19 cases, of which over 8,000 have recovered, and 180 others passed away.
The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China's Hubei province, and the virus has spread to more than 200 countries and territories since then.
To date, COVID-19 cases surpassed 9,565,000 globally, resulting in more than 5,206,000 recoveries and over 485,000 deaths.
On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
