"Antibiotics are the most important weapon in the treatment of bacterial infections. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that over 50% of medicines are prescribed, dispensed or sold inappropriately,” Report informs, citing Elmin Guliyev, the head of the Department of Medicines and Medical Devices.
In his words, 30-65% of antibiotics are not used as prescribed in the instructions and in proper doses: “50% of antibiotics are used in upper respiratory tract infections. Half of all patients do not use drugs properly.”
