State Statistics Committee names top diseases among infants in Azerbaijan

Last year, children under the age of one in Azerbaijan most frequently suffered from respiratory diseases.
According to the State Statistics Committee, the rate stood at 289.7 cases per 1,000 infants.
In addition to respiratory illnesses, high incidence rates were recorded for diseases of the nervous system and sensory organs, as well as infectious and parasitic diseases. Specifically, 94.6 out of 1,000 infants were affected by nervous system and sensory organ disorders, while 65.9 out of 1,000 suffered from infectious and parasitic diseases.
In 2024, the most common illnesses among one-year-old children were also respiratory diseases (30.8 per 1,000) and diseases of the nervous system and sensory organs (10.1 per 1,000).
