Shahmar Movsumov: Delta constitutes 94% of all coronavirus strains in Azerbaijan

The period when mutations in viral infections are detected is seasonal. We already know that the strain that has spread in Azerbaijan now is the Delta strain, Yagut Garayeva, head of the Disease Prevention and Control Department of the Azerbaijani Management Union of Medical Territorial Units (TABIB), said at a briefing at the Cabinet of Ministers on 20 August, Report informs.

Report informs that she said the Delta strain can cause an increase in the number of infections nationwide.

Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Department for Economic Affairs and Policy of Innovative Development of the Presidential Administration Shahmar Movsumov added that the recent studies showed that Delta constitutes 94% of all the strains in Azerbaijan.

"It differs from other strains with high contagiousness," he said.
