Coronavirus may provoke production of self-attacking antibodies in the human body, Report informs.
Such conclusions were reached by scientists at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, who published the results in the Journal of Translational Medicine.
Justyna Firth-Bober, research fellow at the Department of Cardiology at the Schmidt Heart Institute, US and co-author of the study, said the results shed more light on what makes Covid-19 “a particularly unique disease.”
She also stated that the patterns of “immune dysregulation” shown in the study’s results could serve as the basis for different types of persistent Covid-19 symptoms in humans, which ultimately lead to a condition known as “long-term Covid-19.”
