Yalchin Rafiyev: Azerbaijan always attached importance to multilateralism in foreign policy

Azerbaijan has always attached importance to the multilateralism factor in its foreign policy, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Yalcin Rafiyev said at a discussion on "The Rise of the Global South and the West: the Role of Azerbaijan, New Opportunities for Cooperation and Development" held at the Committee on International Relations and Interparliamentary Relations of the Parliament, Report informs.

He noted that the Global South is developing and experiencing a period of growth.

"The countries of the Global South, where 85 percent of the world's population and 39 percent of the gross domestic product are concentrated, are at the stage of political and economic transformation," he noted.

Rafiyev emphasized that Azerbaijan has provided great support to the institutionalization of the Non-Aligned Movement.
