The US Department of State shared information about religious monuments destroyed by Armenians in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
Report informs that the information was provided with reference to representatives of civil society, the UN Development Program and the government of Azerbaijan.
The information, citing diplomats, representatives of civil society, and journalists who visited the territories liberated from the occupation, states that hundreds of religious heritage monuments, including numerous mosques, shrines, and cemeteries, were looted, vandalized, desecrated, or destroyed during the period of occupation,
It was noted that well-known photojournalist Reza Deghati documented the destruction of dozens of Azerbaijani cemeteries in Fuzuli, Aghdam, Zangilan, Kalbajar, and Jabrayil. At the same time, Deghati noted that the Armenian graves remained virtually untouched.
