UN official: Azerbaijan set to host innovative and impactful COP Summit

"I am confident that Azerbaijan will host a COP summit rich in innovations," Daniele Violetti, Senior Director at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat, told Report.

Violetti noted that preparations for COP29 are progressing successfully: "The Azerbaijani team is well-prepared for COP29, and all efforts are being made to achieve success. We are truly working hard for the COP29 team's success and have great confidence in them."

He highlighted the priorities on the COP29 agenda, including climate finance, reducing carbon emissions, emerging climate change issues, water scarcity, food security, land degradation, children affected by the climate crisis, and more.

Violetti emphasized the importance of mobilizing sensitive topics: "Of course, these are crucial issues that everyone will agree on, and leadership is vital. Each COP conference is different. We should work together towards the goal, and we firmly believe that COP29 will be a success."
