TURKPA condemns so-called 'presidential election' in Azerbaijan's Karabakh region

The Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States strongly condemns the so-called “elections” organized on September 9, 2023, by the illegal regime created by Armenia in the Karabakh region of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing TURKPA.

“This is a gross violation of the norms and principles of international law, as well as the Constitution and legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

This provocative step is a blow to efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region and the reintegration of the Armenian residents of Karabakh into the constitutional framework of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Reaffirming its strong support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of the internationally recognized borders of brotherly Azerbaijan, the TurkPA Secretariat calls for refraining from any steps that could jeopardize efforts to normalize the situation in the region,” TURKPA said in a statement.
