Turkish parliament pays tribute to Great Azerbaijani Leader Heydar Aliyev

The memory of Heydar Aliyev, the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, was respectfully honored in the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM).

According to Report, the commemoration ceremony, held on the 21st anniversary of Heydar Aliyev's death, featured a speech by Samil Ayrim, the head of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Ayrim spoke about the far-sighted and wise policies of Heydar Aliyev, enumerating the services of the Great Leader as a statesman for the welfare and development of his people and the unity of the Turkic world.

When in power, Aliyev not only ensured the unity of his people and the development of his country in social, economic, and cultural spheres but also made great efforts for Azerbaijan's recognition and success on the international stage, he noted.

“One of these successes is the modern Azerbaijani Army. During his tenure, Heydar Aliyev made extraordinary efforts to modernize and align the Azerbaijani Armed Forces with Western standards," Ayrim added.

Ayrim also highlighted Aliyev's invaluable services in transforming his country's wealth into national wealth and preventing its exploitation by signing the "Contract of the Century".

“The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline dream became a reality, swiftly bringing Azerbaijani oil to the Mediterranean Sea. Shah Deniz gas quickly reached Türkiye via the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) and Europe via the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).”

The MP discussed Heydar Aliyev's activities and far-sighted policies in the Turkic world, emphasizing the role of his thoughts in shaping the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). "The fundamental steps he took in bringing Türkiye-Azerbaijan relations to the highest level today are undeniable," Ayrim said.

"Based on the tradition he established, today the Türkiye-Azerbaijan alliance spreads as an example to the entire Turkic world. I bow before the memory of Heydar Aliyev, the author of countless works, who conquered our hearts with his deeds."
