Secretary General: Council of Europe going through financial crisis

Baku. 23 January. REPORT.AZ/ The Council of Europe found itself in a financial crisis and will be forced to shorten activity due to a simultaneous decrease in deposits from Russia and Turkey.
Report informs, Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland said before the PACE deputies.
The Secretary General acknowledged that some of the activity of the Council of Europe will have to be curtailed, and we should expect some reduction of the staff.
Notably, the total annual budget of the Council of Europe is 450 mln EUR.
Notably, Russia announced that it would underpay two-thirds of their minimum planned contribution to the budget of the Council of Europe.
Also in response to criticism from the PACE, Turkey announced a reduction in the contribution to the CE up to a minimum.
