The Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation expressed extreme concern over the sharp aggravation of the situation in certain areas of the Azerbaijani-Armenian border on the night of September 13, Report's Russian bureau informs, citing the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"We call on the parties to refrain from further escalation of the situation, exercise restraint and strictly observe the ceasefire in accordance with the tripartite statements of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia dated November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021," the ministry said in a statement.
The Russian Foreign Ministry notes that Moscow is in close contact with Baku and Yerevan: "An appeal has been received from the Armenian leadership with a request to assist in resolving the situation in accordance with the existing bilateral agreements and through the CSTO. We expect that the agreement reached as a result of Russian mediation on ceasefire from 9.00 on September 13 will be carried out in full," the statement said.
In the late hours of September 12, units of the Armenian Armed Forces carried out a large-scale provocation in the Dashkasan, Kalbajar and Lachin directions of the Azerbaijani-Armenian state border.
