Russia says 'doing everything possible' to achieve lasting peace, accord in South Caucasus

Moscow is doing everything possible to achieve lasting peace and accord between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the region, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told a briefing, according to Report.

Zakharova denied reports that some directions in Russia's foreign policy became of less priority amid the war with Ukraine.

"It seems to be a value judgement, personal opinion, probably, an emotion. It is worth listening to the facts," she said.

Zakharova added that Russia remains entirely committed to the promotion of normalization between Azerbaijan and Armenia: "We are doing everything possible to achieve lasting peace and accord in the region."

She said that a whole series of contacts involving Russia at the highest and high levels took place over the past months, listing the tripartite meeting of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia on May 25 of this year, the 12th session of the tripartite working group on unblocking the transport communications chaired by the deputy prime ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia on June 2, as well as the talks between the foreign ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia in Moscow on May 19 and July 25.

"Is this a slowdown? This data is for the last three months. We need to face the truth," Zakharova said.
