Relations between Azerbaijan and Israel are very diversified, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said during the videoconference discussions of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center "South Caucasus: Prospects for Regional Development and Cooperation," answering the question about the Azerbaijani-Israeli ties, Report informs.
"We have active trade cooperation which is growing. Important area of cooperation is tourism. There have been, before pandemic, regular flights, daily flights connecting Azerbaijan and Israel," he said.
The President noted that there is a big Azerbaijani diaspora in Israel.
"There is a very active Jewish community in Azerbaijan. It is the biggest in the region. The Jewish community in Azerbaijan plays a very important role in bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Israel," Ilham Aliyev said.
He also stressed the importance of cooperation in defense industry with Israel: "This cooperation lasts for many years and Azerbaijan has open access to Israeli defense industry products. It is not a secret. And now we are in the phase of new development in that area."
