The tragedy in Azerbaijan’s Khojaly town is a crime against humanity, Pakistani Ambassador to Azerbaijan Bilal Hayee said at an event dedicated to the situation in Kashmir, Report informs.
“Azerbaijan knows what genocide is, as it has experienced the events that took place in Khojaly. The same is happening in Kashmir. We have a lot of connecting moments, and this unites us,” the ambassador said.
The Pakistani diplomat noted that there is a systematic violation of human rights in occupied Kashmir.
“I believe that the time has long come when the world should respond to this tragedy properly. But why is the world silent? European countries teach us a lesson in democracy and peace. Still, in the case of Kashmir, they remain silent because of their commercial interests in India,” said the ambassador, noting that the Indian side also rejects all proposals of international organizations to monitor the situation in Kashmir.
“Azerbaijan is a friendly country for Pakistan and understands this special situation in Kashmir. We thank Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani people for their support,” the ambassador said.
