OIC representative stresses desecration of sacred texts and sanctuaries

Yousef AlDobeay, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs, has talked about incidents of desecration of holy scriptures and attacks on religious sites.

Speaking at the international conference themed “Embracing Diversity: Tackling Islamophobia in 2024” held in Baku, AlDobeay highlighted these acts as pressing concerns, Report informs.

On behalf of the OIC, AlDobeay thanked Azerbaijan for its efforts to highlight the dangers of xenophobia and Islamophobia to worldwide harmony. “We eagerly anticipate the outcomes of today’s discussions,” he stated. “It is everyone’s right to coexist peacefully. The current desecration of religious materials and sanctuaries prompts the need for a united front. We have to combat this animosity vigorously. The OIC urges global entities and leaders to actively support the fight against Islamophobia, affirming that Islam is unconnected to the adverse incidents occurring globally.”
