OIC Labor Center opens in Baku

The opening of the OIC Labor Center took place in Baku within the framework of the V Conference of Labor Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Report informs.

The event began with the reading of verses from the Holy Quran.

Then, the Azerbaijani Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Sahil Babayev made an opening speech.

The minister recalled that the initiative to create an OIC Labor Center with headquarters in Baku was made by President Ilham Aliyev within the framework of the second conference of OIC labor ministers held on April 25-26, 2013 in the capital of Azerbaijan. This initiative was unanimously supported by the member countries.

The main activities of the Center will be expanding cooperation between OIC member countries in the field of labor, employment, social protection and human capital development, coordinating activities in the labor field, improving working conditions, and strengthening social partnership.

OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha said that the OIC Labor Center in Baku will further strengthen cooperation between the countries of the organization in the field of labor and social protection, as well as give additional impetus to the development of cooperation in such areas as the economy, education, and ICT.

He expressed gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for the initiative to create the Center.
