Paris. 3 December. REPORT.AZ/ The number of Azerbaijani citizens receiving asylum in France dropped in 2017 compared to 2016. French Interior Ministry told the Western European Bureau of Report that the asylum was given to 116 citizens in 2017 against 166 Azerbaijani citizens in 2016.
The total number of Azerbaijani citizens seeking asylum in France has risen in 2017 compared to the previous year.
Thus, 261 Azerbaijani citizens applied for asylum in France in 2016 and 335 in 2017. Thus, 63.6 per cent of applicants were granted asylum in 2016 and 34.6 per cent in 2017.
For other reasons (education, marriage, sickness, etc.), there was a significant change in the number of Azerbaijanis who were given temporary residence permit in France. For these reasons, the number of Azerbaijanis temporarily residing in France for the first time was 358 in 2016 and 333 in 2017.
