Nabil Ayad: Azerbaijan well-positioned to lead strengthening of NGOs' role

Azerbaijan possesses the necessary expertise to spearhead efforts in enhancing the role of NGOs as a powerful driving force in combating climate change and advancing transformations in the Global South, Nabil Ayad, Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Global Europe at the European University of Applied Sciences (United Kingdom), said during the opening ceremony of the founding conference of the Global South NGO Platform, according to Report.

According to Nabil Ayad, the countries of the Global South are currently at the forefront of the consequences of climate change, facing serious and disproportionate challenges caused by extreme weather events, such as rising sea levels and increasing environmental degradation.

"Despite these difficulties, it is the resilience, ingenuity, and solidarity of the NGOs in the Global South that provide strong grounds for optimism," he emphasized.
