The declaration on allied cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia, signed a year ago, has faced a period of difficult trials, Russian political scientist, director of the Center for Political Studies Sergey Markov told Report.
According to him, despite the global events during this period, Azerbaijan, as an independent country led by a strong, responsible and wise President Ilham Aliyev, firmly adhered to the policy of a strategic alliance with Russia.
The expert noted that the strategic alliance between the countries requires further work: "The strategic alliance has been preserved, it certainly requires further implementation through specific negotiations and specific projects. The most important thing is that we managed to maintain excellent relations between Russia and Azerbaijan. And this gives reason to hope that these relations will continue to develop and the strategic alliance with Baku will be replenished with more specific meanings and projects."
On February 22, the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia, Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Putin, signed the Declaration on Allied Cooperation. The document contains more than 40 points on the broadest range of cooperation.
