China aims to deepen relations between Azerbaijan and the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), according to Liu Jianchao, head of the International Department of the Chinese Communist Party, Report informs.
Speaking at the Baku conference titled “Azerbaijan-China Strategic Partnership: Promoting Consolidation and Cooperation in the Global South,” Jianchao emphasized that peace and security are key priorities for both nations, which can be advanced through the SCO platform.
“We sincerely believe that the SCO will play a more important role. China and Azerbaijan are jointly implementing a security concept for Eurasia, laying the foundation for stability across the continent,” he stated.
Jianchao also highlighted that both countries are significant players in the Global South. “China and Azerbaijan are working together to advance the development of Global South nations. Xi Jinping has consistently affirmed that, regardless of changes in the international landscape, China will remain a steadfast advocate for developing states in Eurasia. The Global South holds a strategic advantage, standing against terrorism,” he added.
