Jeyhun Bayramov: Legitimate demands of protestors on Lachin road are yet to be met

The legitimate demands of the protestors on the Lachin road are yet to be met, the Azerbaijani Foreign Affairs Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said in a telephone conversation with Karen Donfried, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Report informs.

The parties discussed the current situation in the region and the prospects of negotiations on the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Jeyhun Bayramov said that following the Tripartite Statement, Azerbaijan only guarantees the safety of citizens, vehicles, and cargo on the Lachin road. Still, Armenia misuses the Lachin road for illegal economic activities, rotations of Armenian soldiers, and the transportation of mines. He emphasized that there is no basis for the claims that there is a "tense humanitarian" situation in the region.

The minister also drew attention to the fact that Armenia resorted to manipulations in the negotiation process on the peace agreement.

During the telephone conversation, the parties also exchanged views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
