Irish MPs informed on Azerbaijan's democratic development

Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with a visiting Irish delegation led by Tony McCormack, Convenor of the Friends of Azerbaijan Group in the Houses of the Oireachtas, Report informs.

During the meeting, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova highlighted her previous visit to Ireland and her talks with Speaker Verona Murphy, stating that both sides agreed to deepen parliamentary relations. She emphasized that the ongoing visit would help further develop these ties.

The parties underscored the significance of cooperation within international parliamentary bodies. Tony McCormack extended greetings from Speaker Verona Murphy, highlighting the potential for stronger inter-parliamentary ties. He stressed that visits and contacts contribute to this process.

The Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis shared insights into Azerbaijan's democratic development, legislative work, and international parliamentary activities. She underlined that the country's independent foreign policy strengthens parliamentary engagement abroad.
