Relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan have shown very positive dynamics in recent years, Report informs citing Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The President spoke at a video conference in connection with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of Turkmenistan on joint exploration and development of hydrocarbon resources of the Dostlug field in the Caspian Sea.
"It would be enough to look at the chronology of mutual visits at the highest level: over the past three years, there have been five visits of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, mutual visits. More than 50 documents have been inked as part of those visits. For comparison, I will say that more than 100 documents were signed in the entire history of our relations, with half of them inked in three years. The most gratifying is that they are all being implemented," the president stressed.
‘Today’s signing opens a new page in developing the hydrocarbon resources of the Caspian Sea. This project will help strengthen the energy security of our countries, as well as our neighbors. This project opens up great export opportunities, thereby contributing to the growth of the well-being of our peoples," President Ilham Aliyev said.
He noted that Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan also actively support each other in international structures.
