Hikmat Hajiyev: Azerbaijan sees itself as a key link in Middle Corridor

Azerbaijan sees itself as a key link in the Middle Corridor, connecting two major economic centers — the European Union and China, Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, said during a panel discussion titled "The Middle Corridor: A New Geopolitical and Economic Lifeline?" at GLOBSEC 2025.

According to Report, he noted that annual trade between the European Union and China exceeds 700 billion euros, and Baku clearly sees prospects for cooperation between them.

Hajiyev added that there's no need to create an alternative route to the Middle Corridor. "This route already exists and is functioning effectively. Azerbaijan and its partners are investing in it. Our other partners can join this project and also benefit from it," he said.
