Francois Benedetti: France is creating military bases overseas instead of providing humanitarian aid

France continues its neocolonial policy in overseas territories, ignoring the needs of the local population and destroying their national-religious identity, Corsica Libera party representative Francois Benedetti told a press conference organized by the Baku Initiative Group today ahead of the international conference on "Colonialism: Destruction of National-Religious Identity," Report informs.

According to Benedetti, the decision of Paris to deploy a military base on the island of Mayotte is a striking example of such a policy.

"The French government has established a military base in Mayotte. How justified is the construction of a military base at a time when the local population is suffering from the consequences of natural disasters and needs assistance? This is a clear destruction of national identity. Neocolonialism is a crime against humanity. It destroys the unique cultural heritage of indigenous peoples, and their natural resources are ruthlessly exploited," he stressed.
