Foreign Ministry official: Minor funding issues remain for Astara–Rasht road project

Work on upgrading the terminal in Astara and building the bridge is nearing completion, Rovshan Mirzayev, Deputy Head of the Economic Cooperation Department at Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said during the Q&A session that followed the panel discussion "Azerbaijan and the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO): Opportunities and Prospects."

According to him, Azerbaijan is actively promoting the Trans‑Caspian Transport Route as one of its priority directions.

"Another key track is the North–South transport corridor. The modernization of the Astara terminal and the construction of the bridge are close to completion. However, financing the Astara–Rasht road segment is facing some difficulties. Negotiations on this issue are ongoing between the parties," Mirzayev noted.
