Foreign ministries of Azerbaijan, Netherlands hold political consultations

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received Deputy Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Marcel de Vink, who is visiting Baku, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan's MFA.

During the meeting, issues on the bilateral and multilateral agenda, as well as the current regional situation, were discussed. It was noted that there are broad prospects for the development of Azerbaijani-Netherlands cooperation.

"However, the importance of mutual discussion mechanisms, especially the use of political consultations and mutual visits, was noted in terms of eliminating the challenges in developing relations. The minister also informed the counterpart in detail about Azerbaijan's COP29 chairmanship and the achievements made during the conference held in Baku last year. Despite the double standards that hindered the process, the importance of the important results achieved by Azerbaijan's COP29 chairmanship on a number of crucial elements, in particular, the agreement on a new collective quantitative goal on climate finance, which is the main priority of the COP29 chairmanship, was noted," the ministry said.

It was noted that the other side was also informed about the current regional situation in the post-conflict period, the Azerbaijani-Armenian normalization process, the work carried out on delimitation, as well as the current difficulties and challenges facing the advancement of the peace agenda:

"It was emphasized that the problem of double standards faced in the past conflict, including the post-conflict period, is regrettable and does not serve regional peace and constructive efforts. The meeting also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest. On the same day, political consultations were held between the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and the Netherlands. The political consultations were led by Deputy Minister Fariz Rzayev from the Azerbaijani side, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcel de Vink from the Dutch side."
